Bog Oak Set No.46

This is a rare material with an amazing story. Between 4800-5500 years old from the giant oak trees that formed a vast forest in the land bridge between the British isles and mainland Europe. They were preserved in anaerobic conditions when the sea levels rose. The semi fossilised remains are dug out of the fenlands and carefully dried over 9 months.

This set is from the trees known as the ‘Hemplands Haul’. Found on a farm 50 years ago and reburied by the farmer who realised how special they were and who hoped to preserve them for future generations as no one knew how to process the wood at the time.

Please get in touch if you are interested in commissioning a guitar with this amazing tonewood.
